FAQ PAGE

Are you wondering exactly what it is that a professional pet sitter does?

Great question! A professional pet sitter will offer gentle, loving care for your animals in the comfort of your own home. The professional sitter will start out by obtaining some basic information from you, such as what area you live in, what types of pets you own, what dates or times you will need the pet sitter service and the style of visit you want to happen. We will answer any queries that you might want to present to us at this time. We will also discuss with you when the best time to have a free Meet and Greet consultation would be. This is also a time when we can meet each other and make acquaintance with your pets. At this consultation, you will be filling out the important papers, such as emergency contacts, vet info and whatever else you think we should be aware of so that we can provide the finest care possible for your pets. If you like, you can also bring a routine or schedule to the meeting so that the sitter has a clear image of exactly you are looking for. At this meeting, we’ll also make sure that the keys work so that we can get in and out of your home without incident while you are gone.

When you are researching someone to sit your pets, it is important to ask yourself, and maybe the person as well, the following questions:

  • Are they certified in pet first aid?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • Are they a member of a professional pet sitter organization, such as PUPS or NAPPS?
  • Are they insured?

When you are away on your travels, the sitter will, as directed, perform a security check on the home, enter the premises, remain in the areas you have specified at the initial Meet and Greet, take excellent care of your pet according to your specific instructions, make notations in the visit log so that you will know exactly how your pet was doing and will then exit your home, locking the door securely behind him or her.

Are there any advantages to hiring a professional pet sitter?

When you enlist the services of a professional to sit your pets while you are away, you won’t have to worry about if your pets are well cared for. You can be assured that your loved ones are in caring hands. Because your pets are being cared for in their familiar setting, they won’t experience the anxiety and stress that they would most likely feel if you had put them in a kennel.

What are the rates?

All rates are listed here.

Do you board pets at your house?

Unfortunately, we are unable to board pets in our homes at the current moment. If you really want your pet to be boarded somewhere, there are lots of kennels and vet offices near you that will offer services that include boarding a pet.

Do you happen to be insured?

We most certainly are. We get our insurance through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC. Although it is an additional cost, we feel that you, the client, are worth it.

Which pets do you sit?

Pretty much any type of pet! We will sit chinchillas, cats, dogs, ferrets, rodents, birds, snakes, lizards, fish, arachnids and plenty more. Call us if you have a caged or an exotic animal.

What areas do you service?

Prosper, Plano and Frisco

When will you see my pets?

The time when you have the initial meeting with the walker is the time when you’ll tell the pet sitter when you’d like for the dog to be taken out for exercise. We can’t guarantee that the dog will be walked at exactly that time every day, but it will be within one or two hours of that time.

There are two visits to each pet per day, about 12 hours apart unless you specify otherwise.

What will happen if my pet injuries himself or becomes sick?

We want to take the best care of your pet possible. If your animal should become sick or get injured, we will take it to either your vet or the local animal hospital. We will reach out to either your emergency contact or you before action is taken, unless the situation is serious enough to require immediate attention. The sitter or walker will stay with the pet at all times until you can be reached and can make a decision on what you want to happen.

Does a pet sitter respect my privacy?

Why, certainly! This is a key foundation of our business. We will only access rooms of your home that you have permitted and will only access the home to care for your animals. As a matter of fact, we act the same way we would if we were allowing someone to enter our home to watch our pets. We would not have been able to stay in business as long as we have if we weren’t ethical and honest always. You can confirm our references – more than half of our client base is made up of repeat customers who will verify us.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel a walk or visit plan within 24 hours of the scheduled date, we will either reschedule or we will give you a credit with those funds that you can use for service in the future. If you cancel a walk or visit less than 24 hours before the scheduled date, we are unable to issue a refund or credit.

I don’t live by you, do you have a sitter that you can recommend?

  • Visit petsits.com or petsitters.org and use the zip code locator
  • Call your groomer or vet and see if they can recommend someone
  • Preferably, find a sitter who has references that are solid
